About the Archbishop Esua Foundation
The Archbishop Esua Foundation (ARBEF) isn’t just an organization; it’s a continuation of a century-long mission.
In the early 1900s, missionaries arrived in the remote Nkongho-Mbo area of Cameroon. They didn’t just bring faith; they brought the tools for a better life. In 1938, the first Catholic primary school opened in the village of Mbetta. For decades, the Church was the primary provider of education, healthcare, and infrastructure—literally building the roads that connected these isolated villages to the rest of the world.
Where we come in
Our Foundation Is a Continuation of That Mission
Our founder, Archbishop Emeritus Cornelius Fontem Esua, is a direct fruit of that mission.
Growing up in Mbetta, his path was set by the presence of that single Catholic school. Without it, he would never have had the chance to become the priest, teacher, and leader he is today. He understands firsthand that education is the difference between staying trapped in poverty and having the chance to serve the world.
